A PRAYER FOR THE YEAR TO COME
May we be fully present to those who cross our paths.
May we open space and time for surprise.
May we change course when change is called for
and be ruddered by our deepest purposes.
May we remember that we can afford to laugh
and to be silent in the midst of much speaking.
May we give gladly and receive gratefully.
May our mourning be deep and trusting
and our celebrations generous and joyful.
May we be quick to repent
and patient in recovery.
May we learn from the teachers we are sent
and from the Spirit who indwells and awakens.
May we step forward with courage,
step back with courtesy
and stand still when our work is to wait.
